| Moby's last release of new material under the Instinct label. Also another release that Instinct put out without Moby's permission. And I can understand why, it's mostly very experimental, with no real theme running through it. "Heaven" is good, as it does keep a beat, and even better, evokes some sort of emotion (which most ambient music does NOT do for me), and "Myopia" also falls udner the category... one fo the few songs I can actually unwind to (it also later saw the light as "C3 Bells" under Moby's DJ Mix for MixMag records.. .the difference being that a breakbeat is added). The rest, unfortunatley, leaves alot to be desired. | |||
Yes this album of unreleased ambient tracks is very experimental. But thats what makes it so great. My Beautiful Blue Sky sounds very similar to the strings on Move (YMMFSG). There are no beats though. Heaven is a gorgeous ambient epic clocking in @ over 8 minutes. The highlight of this cd would have to be the dark sounds of Bad Days, Mobys greatest ambient masterpiece. The effects on this track sound like an old cassette tape going bad. The drums are sampled in reverse. Dog is an ambient-house track with a very catchy melody that is repeated from start to finish. Lean On Me is dark, very dark. It includes a dying vocal deep in the background. Scary. These songs are basic, repetitive, and experimental. MY Rating out of 10......8.5
